We hope you will participate in an Anti-Littering campaign to bring attention and awareness that each of us is responsible to actively keep our campus and community clean by cleaning up after ourselves, picking up trash when we see it and recycling whenever possible.
Check out some of our students’ creations for this campaign! To see more work visit the gallery here

Department meetings aren’t so bad when it includes art appreciating (and buying) in Laguna Beach. Working lunch included BIG plans for VAQUERO VISUAL ARTS day!
So much fun and ART and exploration! Art students had their eyes wide OPEN checking out downtown LA and the many sights/sites. The itinerary included: Cathedral of Our Lady Of Angels (Neo-Gothic!), unfortunately arrived too late to view the interior, then a walk to check out a bronze replica of the George Washington marble statue in Grand Central Park, next we snuck into the Metro Station for a look at mosaics based on Faith Ringgold paintings, and then onto the Disney Concert Hall to be WOWed by Frank Gehry’s deconstructivist architecture, and then the highlight visit to the Broad Contemporary museum (*mostly thanks to IHS art/photo/APAH/yearbook alum Chelsea Trinh*) where students got to view art LIVE by Shirin Neshat, Kara Walker, El Anatsui, Basqiuat, Kusama, Warhol, Lichtenstein and many more!
Our curious, and well-mannered mob then walked to Angel’s Flight funicular that took us to the Grand Central Market for an overwhelming variety of food options. Unfortunately, we ran out of time for our peek into the Bradbury Building, but were able to complete an almost-sprint through the Central Library to check out the exquisite rotunda and fabulous murals. We concluded by running (fast walking) a block or two (or 3) to find our bus patiently waiting to take us safely home to Irvine High. Absolute fantastic day only slightly marred by slow walkers 😉 More pics to come…
Congratulations to the winners of this year’s “Within Reach” PTSA Reflections Art Contest at the Irvine Unified School District Level… now moving onto the Regional level!

Please consider supporting Irvine High Visual Arts Teachers and the Art Club support Art education and art-making efforts via the Peace Corps in a Zulu village in South Africa. We realize there is so much need out there in the world—yet we would be grateful if you would consider supporting one of our courageous, and big-hearted former students Lexi Delahaut (IHS Class of 2010) in her teaching efforts/service in the Peace Corps currently at the Nansindlela Combined School in South Africa.

Dear Art Lovers/Makers/Appreciators,
The Orange County Register may be cutting the OC Varsity Arts from it’s publication unless they see a demand amongst their readership. Please take a quick minute to sign up for the Varsity Arts Newsletter tirelessly produced by Heidi Janssen (our county’s strongest ARTs cheerleader). It would be awesome for our creative students and our community if we showed as much interest and enthusiasm for the Arts as we do for our sports…
